We are living in a Transparent and Authentic World

Being real is what it's all about. In this new world of instant communication, follower, likes, tweets, & blogs there is no time for bullshit anymore. Behind all these things are real people who can see BS coming from a mile away and you know what, they don't follow BS. You need to be authentic and real all the time because that is all that matters.

I love the idea that someone I only know on twitter is telling me what he's having for dinner and takes a picture to share. I may not like the food or the photo but he's not afraid of being real and you have to respect that. Some people feel these types of communication are trivial or useless but I look at them as authentic and real. When that same person puts up a link to his blog or product or service, I'm way more inclined to look at it because I know there is a real person behind it. He's not some robot blasting me with pitch after pitch saying look at me, look at me. That BS doesn't work anymore and I love it.

There has never been a more transparent time in the history of the world. Someone was live tweeting the attack on Osama bin Laden. I found out about the Japan Earthquake on Twitter first. The uprising and organization of a revolution against the Egyptian government all from Social Media. These things are happening in real time and they are not happening on your TV only anymore.

I love the future!!!!

This was an interesting challenge. We were given this stock hand shot and given instructions to make is look like water was flowing into the hand and forming an apple made out of water. We went through a number of iterations to get to the final result. I could have worked on this for another month but deadlines are deadlines. Let me know what you think.

This was a fun experiment I did of a friend. The original photo was just begging to be pushed over the top. First I vectorized it but kept some of the original details for added depth. I liked it so much I kept going. In the end it turned out really well. Not bad for some quick fun in Photoshop.

This is a great article written about all the work and process that goes into making a Pixar film. Who doesn't love Pixar. What a great job to come to everyday.

It's impressive how long they take in the process and how everyone is involved and has input in making the greatest animated films better . Every film they have made is such a treasure. How can they keep this up for so many years?

Process, order, unity, variety, contrast, symmetry, asymmetry, rhythm, harmony, dissonance, rhyme, interval, regularity, coherence, tension, balance, proportion, scale, weight, texture, line, mass, space, shape, light, shade, and color.

We can all learn a lesson from this.

· When used as tanning bed, battery life is limited.

· Salesperson in Apple Store not wearing ironic “jazzman” hat.

· Strange odor coming from husband while using iPad.

· For $499, I was expecting a few more sequins.

· No USB port for whatever it is that they do.

· The iBookstore ichthyology section includes almost nothing on lampreys.

· When used as murder weapon, oleophobic coating does not completely eliminate incriminating fingerprints.

I remember first studying his work in school and looking and looking and looking at one of his logos over and over and over again.    I'm a bit sad to be leaving a place I called home for so many years, but I'm excited about everything that will be new. New York City is so unique and diverse. Taking inspiration from popular culture, Tim Burton (American, b. 1958) has reinvented Hollywood genre filmmaking as an expression of personal vision, garnering for himself an international audience of fans and influencing a generation of young artists working in film, video, and graphics. This exhibition explores the full range of his creative work, tracing the current of his visual imagination from early childhood drawings through his mature work in film. It brings together over seven hundred examples of rarely or never-before-seen drawings, paintings, photographs, moving image works, concept art, storyboards, puppets, maquettes, costumes, and cinematic ephemera from such films as Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman, Mars Attacks!, Ed Wood, and Beetlejuice,and from unrealized and little-known personal projects that reveal his talent as an artist, illustrator, photographer, and writer working in the spirit of Pop Surrealism. If graphic design has a grand master, then Milton Glaser is Michelangelo. The Dylan poster. The oh-so-ripped-off “I ‘Heart’ NY” logo. The image for Angels in America. New Yorkmagazine. Everything else.

Glaser has worked nonstop for over forty-five years, co-founding the revolutionary Pushpin Studios in 1954, launching New York magazine with Clay Felker in 1968, establishing Milton Glaser, Inc. in 1974, and teaming with Walter Bernard in 1983 to form the publication design firm WBMG. Throughout his career, Glaser has created hundreds of posters and prints, and his artwork has been featured in exhibits worldwide, including one-man shows at both the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

In 1973 he published what is widely regarded as the first graphic design monograph, Milton Glaser: Graphic Design, and in 2000 he published Art Is Work—essentially “Episode II” of his professional life.

We talked on a stifling July afternoon in the small conference room of his adorable, toylike brownstone in the Murray Hill section of Manhattan. Fun fact: Throughout the interview Mr. Glaser held in either hand (and occasionally waved) a bright piggy-pink colored pencil.
